We left one lake for another, this one higher up in the mountains, Cachuma Lake near Santa Barbara. Along the way the wildflowers were really starting to cover the roadsides.

While there we took a short road trip up Calle de Cielo, Sky Road. It was a winding, narrow road up to the top of the mountain. We were looking for some castle ruins but never found them. The view, however, was stunning!

Good thing we have a small rental car right now. The RV wouldn't make it here!
After missing the castle, we went in search of an old stage coach stop that was supposed to serve excellent food. So down another small winding road we went!

We weren't disappointed. The interior is all original with fireplaces in each room, and the food was fabulous!

We hiked several lovely trails, picked up a few geocaches and tried to take a lake cruise but got rained out. Time to move on to our next adventure!

One of my favorite photos, looks like watercolors.

The trees along the trail had tons of rocks that their roots had grown around.
Even though the soil around the roots had eroded, this tree is alive.
