We are still in Oklahoma for the next few days. Last night we stopped at a small state park called Red Rock Canyon. The Canyon is gorgeous. We went for a long hike and snagged a few geo-caches!

We left Cedar on 1/16/17and made it to Danville Illinois. The RVwas still winterized and it was still very cold out, so we stayed in a motel overnight. Left early and headed toward Little Rock where we had planned to de-winterize. We stopped for lunch at Lambert’s CafĂ©, in Sikeston, Missouri, world renowned for “throwed rolls”. Did they throw them? Yes. Did we catch them? Yes. Were they warm and delicious? Yes!

The waitress asked if I wanted a refill on my iced tea. It old her I thought a gallon was enough!

Denny in the old-fashioned barber shop.
We only made it as far as Wynne, Arkansas the next day, where we camped even though we were still winterized. We had to buy some water to drink and use the campground facilities. It got down in the 40’s overnight but we have heat so no big deal. At least there wasn’t any snow! While at the campground we had a visit from at least a 1000 black birds (Starlings? Grackles?).  Very noisy. We felt like we were in a scene from “The Birds”.
After de-winterizing in Little Rock, we headed on to Gulpha Gorge campground in Hot Springs National Park. The weather was misty and high 50’s both days we were there. That didn’t stop me from enjoying a nice lunch at the Ohio Club (vegetarian Reuben on a pretzel roll-yum!) before my mineral bath, hot wrap, steam bath and massage. I wondered if the price would have gone up since we were here 2 years ago but it was still $71 for about 2 hours of pampering, but the package was on sale that day for $65. Woo-hoo! The Ohio Club was a very cool old club with a stage and a fabulous mahogany barback and still features nightly live music. In the past, it operated as a saloon, casino, speakeasy and more! Note to sisters: We need to plan a sister trip here!

Next stop: Lake Eufaula State Park, in Eufaula, Oklahoma. It was 70 degrees when we arrived and sparsely populated in spite of the warm temperatures. We were able to snag a lakefront site. It is the largest lake in Oklahoma, man-made by a dammed river but very lovely. Sunrise on the lake was beautiful. We got in our first bike ride, about 5 miles, also, my first ride on my new bike. I love it! A little yoga stretching afterward and I feel great!
