We pulled into Zion National Park early yesterday hoping for an electric site through the weekend. Unfortunately, they only had an electric site for one day. So, this morning we will be moving to a non-electric site for 2 days. That is the most Denny can stand without TV! Our plan was to let our old bones rest, take a day off from hiking and ride the mandatory shuttle in the park. Last time I was here you weren't allowed to drive in the park at all. We set out early to walk to shuttle only to find that it only runs on week-ends until March 11th. So, we went for a short walk which turned into an 8 mile hike up a mountain. Before we returned to our camp, we explored a little and found a nearby brew pub right outside the gate. We decided to have a beer on the patio with a view of the mountains. The sun was shining; what could be better? The hostess handed us menus, but I told her we only wanted drinks. We were informed that by law, you cannot order drinks without eating. She suggested a pretzel appetizer. I think it was put on the menu just so people wouldn't leave when told about the law! They were only $3 and fabulous! Hot, soft pretzels with a creamy jalapeno cheese sauce and an excellent stout. Yum! And, the pints were only $5. Excellent find, we will be back!
