We knew as we were coming through the pass into Utah that it was going to be beautiful! We stocked up on beer in Arizona since in Utah, only 3.2 beer is sold 😆
As always, double click on any picture to make it bigger. They all deserve to be full screen! And, even then, you won't be able to come close to imagining the beauty!
We got to our destination, Snow Canyon State Park, early with plenty of time to hike. Luckily, Snow Canyon is named after pioneer Erastus Snow, and not because it is full of snow! There are 38 miles of hiking trails and in our 4 days we managed to hike about 25 of them, and some more than once!

There are 3 main colors in this park, red, white and black. The red is Apache sandstone, the white is white sandstone and the black is basalt or lava. We walked through canyons of each, but mostly red.

These formations are called petrified sand dunes. That is not us at the top but we did climb up there |

A lovely little pool atop the petrified dunes. |

Three out of four days we had bright blue sunny skies. |

Lava flow canyon. |

Lava tube, like a cave but made from lava. You are allowed to explore these but they are very deep. Note that I am standing well back from the edge with no intention of going in and no desire to fall in! |
 |
Note the wide stance, I am up very high! There is a sheer cliff behind me and a stiff wind. I didn't want to blow over! I wanted to take Denny's picture here but he doesn't like heights so wouldn't come up here. |

If your eyes have glazed over by now, I apologize. This was a lot of pictures but it was so difficult to pare it down from the 400 that Denny took!
