The Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument was worth the crazy long drive. We were actually allowed in the cliff dwellings after the climb up to them. The ancestral Mogollons lived here and built these dwellings in the 1280s. There are 6 cave dwellings. The inhabited rooms had sooty ceilings from fires, the other rooms are thought to be store rooms.

Down the big ladder

Pictures don't do these justice, you need to see them!
